Math will help you get places.

It’s no secret that math is one of the most important subjects you’ll ever study at school, but have you ever thought about how math can get you into school? The college application process can be long and complicated at times, but there’s one thing that you can always be sure of: good scores in math will give you a boost. On top of that, math will give you a solid foundation for a lot of very useful programs of study when you finally arrive at your institution of higher learning. Planning for college is a headache for a lot of students; there’s the task of making a list, then narrowing it down, taking standardized tests, writing supplements, etc. Above all, though, there’s the gut-churning fear of rejection: what if I don’t get in? Simply put, you really shouldn’t worry so much about what might happen when you can do so much for yourself by improving your math scores. Both your grades in math classes and your performance on the math sections of standardized tests will be one of the first things that colleges look at, and it will speak a lot to your intelligence and character if they know that you really devote yourself to the challenging discipline of math.

Once you get to college, too, you’ll notice just how much math gives you a head start. You don’t have to be a math major, either; a solid background in math will help you in majors like sociology, which uses a lot of statistics,  physics, and especially econ. Economics is a very popular major that requires a lot of mathematical knowledge, and one that is very marketable in the outside world. Paying for college is also a concern for many prospective students, and math can help you pay off student loans quickly and not get bogged down with debt.

All-in-all math is a very rewarding discipline in a number of ways, and it pays to work hard at it. If you’re planning on taking the next step and continuing your education, you’ll be glad you put the extra effort into math come acceptance season.
