My son’s best friend that he grew up with moved to Indiana after he married his college sweetheart. He got a job as a sportswriter for the Indiana Pacers. I would have never thought that a boy that ate dog food with my son as a child would grow up to have such an important job. He was always on the creative side doing the craziest things when he was young. I guess he just took all that creativity and turned it into a job that he honestly loves and makes a great living doing it. My son says he is kind of a big deal up there. He writes for a newspaper and is also on television all the time interviewing famous athletes. I never thought about it before, but when you are in the public eye like he is, you have to be careful when you are out in public. You never know what kind of crazy people might try to do something bad to you or your family. He even had to get a really good security system through home security systems indiana because he didn’t want some psycho bothering his family. I am just happy that this funny crazy friend of my son grew up to be such a great successful guy.

It seems like everywhere you look, companies are trying to entice new customers by having various sales. Most of the sales are short lived and seem a bit contrived—i.e. it seems all the products have been marked up exponentially to compensate for the lower prices, or the store entices you in by offering “deep discounts” but when you get there, the two things on sale in the store are two things you wouldn’t buy if they were free. That’s not the case with DIRECTV. You can get a great deal on satellite television, and it comes with a ton of great channels. Movie channels, television channels, and music channels. The money you’ll save every month can go towards plenty of other stuff, including those shoes you’ve been eyeing, just waiting for them to go on sale. Listen, it’s highly unlikely they’re going on go on sale. The ugly ones you wouldn’t wear if someone paid you? Those will definitely be discounted soon, but you should stop holding out for the awesome ones to be reduced. Just buy them.

Man, I spent a lot of money I wasn’t counting on when I bought my first house. Things like closing costs and attorney fees and even initial taxes really added up and when I moved in I was a couple thousand dollars in the hole. I just wish I had planned better and bought a house that was slightly under my budget so I could handle all these horrible expenses without them being so hard on me! I tried really hard after the move to save money in other places. I got some good cable deals and actually made some rugs out of carpet remnants at the carpet store. It looks great! The place isn’t quite done yet but it’s getting there and I am slowly working my way back to having a little emergency fund. I wish someone would have told me being a homeowner was so darn expensive…I probably would have planned a lot better so that all those extra expenses really hit me so hard! I guess you live you learn.
