A Free Lottery for All

My father and I are always trying to find that groundbreaking seed of an idea that turns out to be worth millions. We make notes on what is selling fast online and on the websites that are getting the most hits, we also think about the things in our everyday lives that could be improved upon. If I see an article about new money making idea I send it to him and vice versa. I also love websites where people share their own experiences of formulating successful ideas with in-depth descriptions or videos documenting their process. I study the ways that other people have made a name for themselves, so that I may put these methods to use with my own talents. After all the time I have spent in researching how others made it big, I believe one key factor in coming up with my own original idea is in keeping my mind open and readily aware of the possibilities around me. This morning while I was waiting for the train a woman started talking to me about how she wanted to start a blog with all the inspirational experiences and stories she had gathered over the years. I was able to give her some advice on good blogging websites, and somehow this turned into giving her names of sites she could make money off of online. Suddenly, she had a notebook out and was jotting down all of the names I was telling her. Just like me she knew that the internet holds so many possibilities, and just like me she was constantly searching for the opportunity of a lifetime. I sometimes feel like the internet provides a free lottery for us all, the chances of winning are small but the prize is great.

Math Majors and Careers

I actually never knew how many career choices one has as a math major. I assumed that most people who study math either choose to become a math teacher or deal with finances, but there are a lot of careers for math majors that you should consider.
The one I usually think of, again, is finances. Finance studies how businesses, individuals, and organizations make profits and furthermore how they use these profits to make even more money.
Math in Different Careers
Published June 8, 2012 | One of the most common misconceptions about math is that it’s useless — who actually needs to learn this stuff other than scientists and people like that? In fact, math is one of the most generally applicable disciplines that you can learn. Second perhaps only to writing, math is used in more diverse careers and professions than almost any other school subject. By taking the time to learn math, you are setting yourself up as a very marketable candidate for almost any job that you can think of.
Got the job? Thank math!
Being good at math doesn’t mean having to go down the path of academia or spending the rest of your life inside a lab; in fact, most of the math involved in those fields is more abstract and theoretical than the geometry, algebra, and calculus that you’ll learn in high school in college. But anything from managing a storefront to being the architect that designed the building it’s in? That means having a working knowledge of those three types of math at the very least. Professions like publishing require math too — doing things like calculating how much profit specific books and authors are going to generate, royalty percentages, and negotiating foreign language rights all involve arithmetic and algebra.
In short, don’t think it’s a good idea to shirk studying math! When first starting out, math can seem uninteresting compared to classes like English or history, but ultimately will prove to be at least as useful of either of those fields. Stick to it and you’ll be glad you did when it comes to searching for a job.

Published March 19, 2012 | Looking for a job isn’t known to be one of those things that are fun. It can be boring, and difficult to find job openings for a specific type of job. Sure there are so many websites which allow you to search for jobs, but often times your search can give you job openings that have nothing to do with a job you would actually be interested in. There are few websites that are decent for landing a job, such as SideSkills.com. You may be wondering why they are different than others just like them. What separates them from others is that it’s more like a social networking site,than a boring job seeker website. You simply post a resume and you can connect with friends and potential colleagues. When you see the website, you will see many examples of people who have used the website, and have been successful in the job search.
SideSkill’s isn’t only a great site for job seekers to take a look at. If you are looking to hire someone for an opening for your company, then you should definitely give it a shot as well. The part about the website that I think is the best, is the fact that you can actually search for a potential employee with specific attributes. You won’t waste your time getting to know a potential worker, and then realize that they don’t have a major requirement for the job.
Whether you are the one looking for a job or are the one looking to hire, SideSkills can be a major time saver. No more getting results that won’t benefit you. There are many websites for employers that actually charge to post an opening. That’s simply ridiculous, and is just a waste of money. This website can be used for part time,full time, and even freelance jobs.
Finding A Job In The NonProfit Sector
Published March 2, 2012 | Finding a job these days can be quite a difficult task. I was recently searching for nonprofit jobs, and it felt like I was searching for years. It had really only been a few weeks since I had started my job search, but it just seemed like non profit jobs were just impossible to find. I was completely stressed about finding one, and then my friend had told me about nonprofitjobseeker.com. She told me that she was searching for nonprofit careers as well, and the website is the reason she was successful in her search. Right after she told me this, I ran to my computer to see what the site was all about. I saw that it’s simple to search for jobs in the nonprofit sector, and you can search by state or title. In the past, I had searched online careers nonprofit, and I got results from all across the country. I was glad to see that this website gave me job openings even within a few miles from my house. I got some tips on job searching which were very helpful. I also thought it would be a good idea to sign up for the email newsletter. The newsletters provide me with more helpful tips and of course job openings that I may be interested in. I plan on using nonprofitjobseeker.com to get me my dream job. So far it’s going very well, and I’m excited to see the final outcome.
