Being that I was and still am not a good at math, I was very happy when I read an article and learned there are some who really do excel in it. The ones who did well in math are kids who live in the same town as I grew up in. Continue reading “Students Excel At Math And Science” »

My daughter lives in a rental house that is just on the edge of downtown. I wasn’t so sure about her moving down there because I didn’t know how safe the area was. Continue reading “Living downtown” »

There was recently a study done, which main goal was to see if teachers believe that boys are actually smarter than girls of the same age group. Continue reading “Are Boys Really Smarter With Math Than Girls?” »

When I was in High School, I always knew I wanted to go to college in the future. I really wanted to make something out of myself, and a college degree was needed especially if I wanted to make a decent amount of money. Although I knew this was true, I also knew that going to college right after High School was probably not realistic. Growing up with only one parent, money was always a touchy subject. As I got older and needed more things, my mom and I had more and more money issues. Continue reading “Where To Find College Scholarships And Grants” »

When I think about what I went through last year,I truly don’t know how I made it through. In the time period of a few months,I got divorced, lost a close family member, and lost my job. I pretty much gave up on everything, and I was clearly depressed.  I sat around all day on the coach, just being sad about my life. I had no motivation to do anything, and I didn’t believe anything would ever get better. Continue reading “Therapy Really Does Heal” »

Television has always been a top medium for entertainment since the beginning of its existence. The TV has evolved and upgraded immensely since the first one was debuted. From silent black and white programs, to color and sound, to HD and now 3D, everyone is wondering where the television industry will go next. In todays world it is unheard of to even imagine the idea of having to physically change the channel yourself, as we are so dependent on the remote controller. When I lose my remote for even a few minutes, I panic and spend more time looking for it, rather then just walking up to the TV and changing the channel. Sad I know, but I’m not the only one that does that.

Now, the latest in remote controller technology is upon us, and it is called the gesture remote. Voice operated remotes are already in existence, and this branches out even further. There is a camera on top of the television, similar to a webcam on a laptop, which allows the television to comprehend your gestures to operate the TV. For example, extending your arm out and putting your hand open and keeping your palm flat will signal to the TV to “stop” whatever program or movie you are watching. You will also be able to move your hand around to use it as a pointing system, similar to a mouse on a computer.

While gesture remotes are still in its development phase, the first one their kind are slowly slipping into the market. Toshiba is leading the charge, and hopefully we see some progress in the upcoming months.

If you have ever been in trouble with the law, then you know the importance of hiring a good lawyer. Hiring one without experience can lead to you losing your case. This can lead community service, fines, and even jails. Clearly you don’t want your case to result in any of these, which is why it’s so important to search for the right lawyer. As a teacher, I know how important it is to use the right tools to teach. Using books and materials that aren’t useful is just a waste of money and time. I know that I only have about nine months to teach  my students what they need to know in the third grade, so I want to use that time to teach them as much as I can. I’ve worked with textbooks and materials that just weren’t helpful at all, and I knew it was time for a change. I did some research and found out about Mentoring Minds.
